New Yorker flagshipstore gehts a new look - a glass network with TG-THERM®plus
The textile outlet New Yorker is opening its flagshipstore in the historical centre of Braunschweig. The Hannover (Germany) architecture office of Prof. Karsten K. Krebs reinterpreted the existing building from the ground up.
The result of this new interpretation is a building whose old appearance has been spaciously opened up with a new glass mounted façade. The distinctive corner of the building, very noticeable in the city centre, received a new, appropriate emphasis with an approximately 85 m² media wall. Furthermore, two large wall panels on either side of the entry invite you to visit the store.
The hip architectural language, which one might expect to see in Paris, Moscow, New York, or Tokyo, sets a new standard for the quiet streets of the old quarter of Braunschweig, and enhances the city centre.
For the façade, the architects attached TG-THERM®plus UN II with 2 × TG-ESG®-H. Due to the construction of the façade,
different models of window panes were installed. The largest number of similar panes forms 51 parallelograms that significantly exceed the size of a standard tape measure, forming the outline of a 6,346 x 1,470 mm rectangle. In addition to the façade, glass from Thiele Glas measuring 2,550 x 3,700 mm is also installed in the stairway and on the back of the façade. Here the architects chose additional design elements by using multiple screen prints and digital prints.
