Maters Houses in Dessau (GER)

Sophistically produced opaque windows with TG-THERM®plus

It is a very special beauty which we celebrate and encounter anew today here in the garden between the former Direktorenhaus and the equally magnificiently reconstructed Moholy-Nagy-Building. These were the opening words of the federal presidents, Joachim Gauck, speech. Occasion was the reopening of the Dessau Meisterhäuser (master houses) on 16th March 2014 in Dessau.

After almost three years construction period the Dessauer Meisterhäuser, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are made accesible to the public once again. When Dessau was bombed in spring 1945 the Direktorenhaus of Walter Gropius and the Moholy-Nagy part of the Meisterhäuser were completely destroyed, too. Only 70 years later various constructors and architects restored the symbols of the design and education revolution on behalf of the City Dessau-Roßlau.
This extraordinary glass processing of the up to 7,317 x 1,779 mm big studio and staircase windows is based on tempered safety glass TG-ESG®-H (tempered, heat-soak-tested, safety glass) out of 12 mm or rather 10 mm low-iron glass. The panes are equipped with a thermal insulating coating and are further processed to double or rather triple glazed IGU’S, TG-THERM®plus. Well-trained skilled workers artistically designed the all-over single panes in advance at the Thiele Glas premises in Wermsdorf, Saxony. This refinement processing grants the windows the visible semi-transparent colateral or rather floating color effect. By means of an especially for this project coordinated process the special paint was cured on the surface during the tempering process.

A frameless installation completes the master piece. By the help of a special design of the glass façade structure the glass is only mounted with silicone-adhesives to the bearing constrution. Finally an impressive and outstanding façade with fined, especially shaped and opaque glazing was created.
