Shopping Centre EK3, Kamp-Lintfort (GER)
A glass façade and a bright inner courtyard confer more transparency and ease on the EK3 shopping mall of Kamp-Lintfort’s city centre.
Until now the three young oaks give only a little shade. But it seems that they already have spread their leaves on the inclined glass walls and the glazed roof. By means of ceramic digital printing white shimmering leave motifs have been applied to the glass durable and weather-resistant. The sloping down façade as well as the glass roof consist of TG-THERM®sun, an insulating glass with sun-protection coating. For the digital printed panels of the roof Thiele Glas used basically TG-PROTECT®-TVG, laminated safety glass out of heat-strengthened glass, as well as TG-ESG®-H, Heat-Soak-tested tempered safety glass, for all other digital printed panels.
The maximum dimension of the glass panels is 2,600 x 4,300 mm whereas the total amount of the installed glass comes up to 1,700 sqm.
The motif of the falling oak leaves on the façade continues on the parking level and the adjacent atrium as a guiding principle which points the way to the mall for all visitors. The delicate design was applied to the glass with rigorous precision in order to create smooth transitions between the particular panes. The resulting overall picture impresses by its fitting accuracy of the individual printed glasses. In combination with the wooden floors and young trees the digital printed glass facades creates an interior with a pleasant environment which invites guests to linger.
