A review of Glasstec 2014

The leading fair of the glass industry allured around 43,000 professionals to Düsseldorf this year.

Among also numerous employees of Thiele Glas who wanted to catch up on current topics and trends.

The focus was on:

  •   improvement of process- and product quality in the glass production
  •   innovative and smart glazing for exterior and interior design
  •   technical glasses, special glazing as well as ground-breaking thin glass
  •    new products for the handcraft and their treatment

The organizers draw a positive balance: ‘After difficult times for a large part of the glass sector, now, crystal-clear signals for a positive market development are noticeable – at least this is expected after the initial feedback of the overall 1,217 exhibitors of the glasstec 2014.

This year, Thiele Glas was Platinum Sponsor of engineered transparency and presented in cooperation with TU Dresden the current state of research in terms of glass support with pre-stressed reinforcement. These enable innovative glass supporting structures for modern architecture. Classical areas of application are transparent façade posts or roof girders. As another example of use the highly-stressable main girders of a pedestrian bridge could practically be implemented. One example of implementation has been presented at the specialist conference and could be put under scrutiny and tested. <link http: www.glasstec.de cipp md_glasstec custom pub web-proddatasheet prod_datasheet _blank external link in new>Here you will find more information on the glass supporting structures project.

Furthermore the glazing of Thiele Glas was integrated in the modern exhibition stand of DipTech. An over seven meters long digitally-printed back wall made of laminated safety glazing decorated the stand of the Israeli digital printer manufacturer. In addition, pre-mounted glass stela created a 3D-effect. The large-surface rear-panel measured 3000 x 7,200 mm and consisted of 20 mm thick laminated safety glazing <link _blank internal link in current>TG-PROTECT®-TVG. Printed was the panel by ceramic frit method <link _blank internal link in current>TG-PRINTdigital. The glass processor fabricated also five digital-printed glass stela in 12 mm thick laminated safety glass TG-PROTECT®-TVG as well as six circular tempered safety glass table tops <link _blank internal link in current>TG-ESG® 10 mm, equally digitally printed with stone, marbor and wood look. ‘We are pleased to support our long-term partner and supplier of our printing technology with the implementation of their exhibition stand by producing all their glass exhibits.’ said Jan Evers, responsible for sales marketing at Thiele Glas.
