    From then until now... learn more about the milestones in the history of the Thiele Glas Group.
    
    It all began in 1989 in the small town of Schrozberg in Baden-Württemberg. A small glass-cutting business with 4 employees and a manageable production and office area of 800 m² was the beginning of the development of what is today a medium-sized, modern and innovative glass processing company with a total of six locations, 75,000 m² production area, 400 employees and approx. 30 trainees. Since then, Thiele Glas has been expanding rapidly, adding five more locations in West and East Germany.

Thiele Glas project receives ENR award 2020

“Engineering News-Record”, an international construction magazine, named Seattle´s Space Needle remodel Project of the Year and Best Renovation/Restauration of 2020.

ENR´s Best of the Best Awards were presented in 20 different categories. Around 100 members of the construction industry formed the competition jury and evaluated the projects in terms of innovation & quality, overcoming challenges, as well as teamwork and safety. The winning projects represent the pinnacle of design and construction excellence.

The project, centered around the renovation of the Space Needle, beat out nearly 900 other projects completed in the U.S. between May 2019 and May 2020.

176 tons of glass formed an important basis of the project. In addition to the newly created glass benches on the observation deck, the glass balustrade was also renewed. TG-PROTECT^® SGP – our laminated safety glass with increased resistance – was mainly used for this purpose. TG-THERM^® insulating glass with a special solar control coating was installed in the glass floor on the restaurant. A total of 442 glass panes with dimensions of up to 3,580 x 2,276 mm were supplied.
